Therefore, it begins with a summary of the background and evolution of the approach taken by academics and authorities in this regard. All of that is framed within the challenges presented in order to face the consequences that global warming will bring to the human population, especially in the Peruvian case. With that purpose, it puts emphasis on the most urgent aspects and the proposals made about the problem. Finally, it discusses the measures taken during the meetings conducted by different countries and international organizations in order to generate compromises which allow the viability of reducing climate change and its effects.El presente artículo analiza el cambio climático desde la perspectiva histórica. Se inicia, por tanto, con una relación sobre los antecedentes y la evolución que ha tenido el enfoque adoptado por académicos y autoridades al respecto. Todo ello está enmarcado dentro de los retos que plantea el enfrentar las consecuencias que traerá para la población humana el calentamiento global, tomando especial interés en el caso peruano. Con esta finalidad, se busca enfatizar en los aspectos más urgentes a solucionar y las propuestas que se han realizado en torno a la problemática. Finalmente, se discuten las medidas tomadas durante las reuniones llevadas a cabo por diferentes países y organismos internacionales para generar compromisos que permitan la viabilidad de reducir la alteración del clima y sus efectos.
