description The objective of this study: to know the way in which the development of communicative competence was promoted in Mexican high school students via remote education in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. Research was qualitative and ethnographic. Sample: twenty students from four different high schools, from a public university in the northeastern of Mexico. Data collection was through semi-structured interviews and non-participant observations. Among the most relevant results, it was found that, even when teachers promoted communicative conditions for academic interaction, students did not want to do so; there was confusion in the remote classrooms regarding the correct alignment of the teaching and learning processes, which could have caused problems for students and teachers. It was concluded that educational training in special situations requires different preparation of teachers and students, according to the needs of times and special contexts in which they are educating.

Investigación cualitativa y etnográfica. Muestra: veinte estudiantes de cuatro preparatorias distintas, de una universidad pública del noreste mexicano. La recolección de datos fue mediante entrevistas semiestructuradas y observaciones no participantes. Entre los resultados más relevantes se encontró que, aún y cuando los docentes fomentaron condiciones comunicativas para la interacción académica, los estudiantes no supieron cómo aprovecharlo; existió confusión en las aulas remotas en cuanto al desarrollo de los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje, lo que podría haber provocado problemas en estudiantes y docentes. Se concluyó que la formación educativa en situaciones especiales, requiere de preparación distinta de docentes y de estudiantes, acordes con las necesidades de tiempos y contextos especiales en que se esté educando.O objetivo deste estudo: descobrir como o desenvolvimento da competência comunicativa foi fomentado em estudantes do ensino médio mexicano através da educação remota no contexto da pandemia Covid-19. Pesquisa qualitativa e etnográfica. Amostra: vinte estudantes de quatro escolas secundárias diferentes em uma universidade pública do nordeste do México. A coleta de dados foi feita através de entrevistas semi-estruturadas e observações não-participantes. Entre os resultados mais relevantes, constatou-se que, mesmo quando os professores promoviam condições comunicativas para a interação acadêmica, os alunos não sabiam como aproveitar; havia confusão em salas de aula remotas em relação ao desenvolvimento dos processos de ensino e aprendizagem, o que poderia ter causado problemas para alunos e professores.
