Materials and methods: The peels were dehydrated by lyophilization, once stabilized it was stored and a shampoo could be formulated to test its repairing effect. The fatty acid components present were analyzed by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry. The skin irritation and sensitization test of the shampoo was carried out in rabbits. The repairing effect was evaluated using the methodology of scanning electron microscopy evaluating samples of virgin hair subjected to different aggressions, such as permanent staining and bleaching, which in turn were subjected to treatments with Carica papaya L. rind shampoo at concentrations of 1% and 3% compared to base shampoo and a commercial shampoo. Results: In the determination of fatty acids of the shell, it was obtained that it contains 27.86% of linolenic acid, 20.43% of palmitic acid and 13.85% of linoleic acid. The evaluation of skin irritation in rabbits allowed us to verify that the shampoo formulated in its 2 concentrations at 1% and 3% are not irritating. It was obtained that the 1% papaya peel shampoo has a considerable repairing effect by evaluating the irregularity. Conclusion: The effectiveness of 1% papaya peel-based shampoo in the hair repair treatment demonstrated in a virgin hair model could be demonstrated.
