Based on a taxonomy, the proposed methodology identifies the fields of knowledge for which an organization requires an expert. After that, it proposes criteria for identifying possible experts and assessing their expertise based on knowledge management concepts. This proposal was developed from working with various public institutions, all governing in their respective sectors, and carrying out large-scale projects.En este artículo se presenta una metodología para la identificación de expertos que puedan ayudar a organizaciones de cualquier tipo a mejorar su competitividad y a facilitar la innovación en la gestión de proyectos. La propuesta nace de la constatación de los vacíos y entrampamientos que se generan cuando el conocimiento experto no se comunica al interior de las organizaciones. La metodología propuesta parte de la identificación, a partir de una taxonomía, de los campos de conocimiento para los cuales una organización requiere de un experto. Luego de ello, propone criterios para la identificación y valoración de los expertos a partir de conceptos de gestión del conocimiento.
