Among the findings of this investigation are that: parents are not trusting the work of the male teacher, because they fear that he may harm their children or that he may not be able to perform his function effectively, as he would a female teacher. On the other hand, educational authorities are doing very little about it. These social representations could be given as a result of the experiences, customs and traditions that have been transmitted from generation to generation, which require special attention so as not to affect the work of male teachers at the Preschool level.Las representaciones sociales permiten a las personas percibir el mundo que los rodea, relacionarse con otros y comunicarse entre sí El presente artículo está basado en una investigación cualitativa, sobre las representaciones sociales de padres de familia de un Jardín de Niños, donde se aprecian una serie de prejuicios que enfrenta el docente masculino al desempeñar su función en este nivel escolar. Entre los hallazgos, de esta indagación, se encuentran que: los padres de familia no están confiando en el trabajo del docente masculino, pues temen que pueda hacerles daño a sus hijos o que este no pueda ejercer su función de manera eficaz, como lo haría una docente femenina. Por otro lado, las autoridades educativas están haciendo muy poco al respecto.
