While I was carrying out an investigation of the Quichua dialects spoken in Ecuador, I noticed that certain postulates were evident in all the dialect areas that I studied.Al analizar cualquier idioma, hay ciertas categorías y maneras de concebir que pueden ocurrir a varios niveles con gran frecuencia. Muchas veces, estas categorías son tan universales y evidentes que se muestran no sólo lingüísticamente sino que tienen correspondencias culturales también. Tales temas recursivos e inclusivos se llaman 'postulados lingüísticos' (Hardman, 1978).
