When this penalty was applied, the name of the excommunicated person was put on the door "of the churches of where they were parishioners and he did not order them to absolve or remove them from the tablet until they have fulfilled the payment".El diezmo: "parte de los frutos que pagan los fieles a la iglesia de Dios que regularmente es la décima" o décima parte de los frutos que se cogen aunque a veces menos según caso y costumbre de los lugares". A estas definiciones podemos añadir que el diezmo fue una forma de tributación coercitiva que pagaban los propietarios de "tierras decimales"; el incumplimiento implicaba la excomunión mayor late sentisa ipso facto. Cuando se aplicaba esta pena, el nombre del excomulgado era puesto en la puerta "de las iglesias de done fueran feligreses y no los mandaba absolver ni quitar de la tablilla hasta que hallan cumplido con la paga".
