The first analysis of the subject describes the first century of these unique cemerery practices, particularly with regard to management, funereal art and rituals, as well as makes comparison with like cases in other cities.Los primeros panteones extramuros en el Perú trajeron consigo una serie de cambios y permanencias en la visión y práctica sobre la muerte a nivel local, que podemos constatar en diferentes ciudades, como es el caso de Ayaviri, al norte de Puno. En ese sentido, realizaremos una primera aproximación al camposanto ayavireño y su primer siglo de funcionamiento, con particular énfasis en su tutela institucional, el arte  fúnebre que conservó y la ritualidad que giró en torno a él, realizando algunas comparaciones con otras ciudades del país.
