Descripción
Sumario:To develop the proposed theme, we start from the analysis of the way in which Garcilaso inscribes women in his history about the Incas, how he presents them and what models he uses. The female figures are shown in the Royal Comments through a range of social conditions, institutions, functions and activities that seem to be typical of pre-Hispanic Andean culture, but also taking models from Western culture. Their roles will show them dependent or subordinate to their male peers, and only exceptionally will they be presented as playing leading roles. The women who parade in his text are several: mythical characters, from the Inca elite, the chosen ones —acllas and ocllos— and the women of the town, whom he treats in a generic way, which does not prevent him from distinguishing between them the pampayrunas , whose characteristics project the images that the meretricio had in Spain in the 17th century.
