The following article provides background on the pre-Columbian period in which these images were painted; analyzes the materials, techniques, and styles of design; reviews the different types of cave art found within the site, including their origins and functions; and finally, reproduces several images of the drawings and photographs of the petroglyphs.El interés por el arte rupestre ha tomado auge en los últimos años y son varios los hallazgos que se están haciendo, ese es el caso del sitio petroglífico llamado El Chiral, el cual destaca por el número de ejemplares y por la calidad de sus diseños. En el presente artículo, primero se dan a conocer algunos datos históricos prehispánicos, luego, el material de soporte, técnicas y estilos de elaboración, la tipología de las representaciones rupestres, su origen y función, para finalmente presentar algunos dibujos y fotografías de los petroglifos.
