It has been found that this action is not identical -empíricamente- although much more active than progesterone or progestin; it has no androgenic effects and acts only by injection. Really we do not have a thorough knowledge about the North-synthetic steroids; Steroids are a cyclopentane fenartreno chemical structure.Los llamados progestágenos o progestábenos o gestágenos artificiales o sintéticos (caproato 17 a hidroxiprogesterona, acetato 6 metil 17 a hidroxiprogesterona) y las nortestosteronas provocan en los mamíferos, una reacción progestacional y otros, favorecerían la nidación y la gestación. Estos gestágenos, evidentemente, son de los últimos adelantos de la endrocrinología a punto tal que su estudio no es aún una cuestión acabada y en permanente revisión. Se ha comprobado que su acción no es idéntica -empíricamente- aunque mucho más activa que la progesterona o progestina; ésta no tiene efectos androgénicos y actúa sólo por vía parenteral.
