They insist on the need to carefully study the cervix before setting the operating behavior and control the remaining stump after subtotal hysterectomy.Los autores hacen una revisión de la literatura relacionada con el cáncer del muñón cervical. A continuación exponen su experiencia personal que consiste en 6 casos observados en el Servicio de Clínica Ginecológica del Hospital de Clínicas desde 1937 a 1955 sobre un total de 8,000 enfermas hospitalizadas. El cáncer del muñón se presentó en el 1.14% con relación al cáncer cervical incluyendo un caso coincidente. Admitiendo sólo los verdaderos, esta incidencia es de 0.95%. En cuanto al empleo de la histerectomía total o sub-total, si bien prefieren la primera creen que la sub-total no puede ser abandonada en el tratamiento de los estados que requieren una histerectomía.
