The results revealed that the presence of women on the sidewalks is related to mixed-use areas and the presence of active facades. It is suggested that urban planning policies consider these specificities to promote gender equity in walkability and improve the quality of life in cities.Caminar desempeña el papel de eje estructurador primario del paisaje. Estudios recientes resaltan la importancia de evaluar la caminabilidad desde una perspectiva de género. Mediante una evaluación ergonómica urbana, este artículo analiza la brecha en el uso del espacio entre mujeres y hombres en zonas céntricas de São Paulo. Los resultados revelan que la presencia de mujeres en las aceras se relaciona con las áreas de uso mixto y la presencia de fachadas activas.
