The author concludes sociological definitions have limitations, gives primacy to legal concept of genocide and affirms that social groups not protected by the Convention find protection by other rules of International Criminal Law.En el siguiente texto, el autor se enfoca en el tratamiento que recibe el genocidio desde el campo de la sociología, para luego comprobar las diferencias de los estudios sociológicos con la regulación legal contenida en la Convención para la Prevención y Sanción del Genocidio, específicamente respecto a los grupos que son objeto de protección en la definición jurídica de genocidio. Para lograr su cometido, el autor desarrolla cómo fue el proceso de producción de la Convención, así como la crítica de la definición legal de genocidio en la sociología.
