Data were collected through a multiple-choice questionnaire specifically developed for this research, grounded in Gairín’s (1998) four stages of organizational development. The instrument was administered to 100 faculty members from the Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco (UJAT) in Mexico and 247 faculty members from the Universidad Especializada de las Américas (UDELAS) in Panama. The findings reveal both similarities and differences between the two institutions, providing insights that may inform strategies to strengthen equity practices in alignment with their respective stages of organizational development.El presente estudio tiene como objetivo comparar el nivel de desarrollo de dos instituciones de educación superior de México y Panamá con respecto a la calidad de la equidad en las funciones sustantivas. Se trata de un estudio descriptivo comparativo; la recolección de datos se realizó a través de un cuestionario de opción múltiple elaborado exprofeso para la investigación, en el cual se contemplaron los cuatro estadios de desarrollo de Gairín (1998). El instrumento se aplicó a 100 docentes de la Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco (UJAT) en México, y 247 de la Universidad Especializada de las Américas (Udelas) en Panamá. Los resultados revelan similitudes y diferencias entre las dos instituciones, a partir de las cuales se pueden mejorar las prácticas de equidad considerando los respectivos estadios de desarrollo organizacional.Este estudo tem como objetivo comparar o nível de desenvolvimento organizacional de duas instituições de ensino superior no México e no Panamá no que se refere à equidade em suas funções substantivas. Adotou-se um delineamento descritivo-comparativo. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de um questionário de múltipla escolha, desenvolvido especificamente para a pesquisa e fundamentado nos quatro estágios de desenvolvimento organizacional propostos por Gairín (1998). O instrumento foi aplicado a 100 docentes da Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco (UJAT), no México, e a 247 docentes da Universidad Especializada de las Américas (UDELAS), no Panamá.
