This article proposes an intertextual and interdiscursive approach to Canto secular, in order to discover in the poem a literary operation of foundation of an enunciative locus where two spatiotemporal coordinates, both literary recreated, overlap: the peasant Paraguay in the transition towards urbanity, and classical antiquity synthesized in some legal values and models.En 1911 Eloy Fariña Núñez publicó en Buenos Aires el extenso poema Canto secular para conmemorar el centenario de la independencia del Paraguay. La obra exhibe una impronta modernista, pero también subyacen en ella algunos rasgos del arielismo, filosofía política latinoamericana que otorgaba protagonismo político a la juventud, y reconocía una doble ascendencia cultural americana y grecolatina.
