Theoretical references are discussed, the historical perspective is studied, and the used methodology is eminently qualitative, incorporating Arts-Based Research. The objective is to analyze what typography can promote the cultural awareness of teachers. A study carried out in the degree classrooms of the Universitat de València is described. The results reveal that there is great potential in the use of typography among future teachers, if we are able to recover the lost tradition of calligraphy as drawing, updating it according to the needs of the digital universe.El artículo presenta una reflexión y propuesta sobre la oportunidad de recuperar el estudio de la imagen de las letras en la formación inicial del profesorado de primaria. Se discuten referentes teóricos, se estudia la perspectiva histórica, y se fundamenta la metodología utilizada, de carácter eminentemente cualitativo, incorporando la Investigación Educativa Basada en Artes. El objetivo consiste en analizar hasta qué punto la tipografía puede favorecer la conciencia cultural de profesorado. Se describe un estudio realizado en las aulas de grado de Maestro/a de la Universitat de València. Los resultados revelan que existe un gran potencial en el uso de la tipografía entre futuros docentes, si somos capaces de recuperar la tradición extraviada de la caligrafía como dibujo, actualizándola en función de las necesidades del universo digital.O artigo apresenta uma reflexão e proposta sobre a oportunidade de recuperar o estudo da imagem das letras na formação inicial de professores do ensino fundamental. As referências teóricas são discutidas, a perspectiva histórica é estudada e a metodologia utilizada, de natureza eminentemente qualitativa, é incorporada, incorporando a Pesquisa Baseada em Artes. O objetivo é analisar em que medida a tipografia pode promover a conscientização cultural dos professores. É descrito um estudo realizado nas salas de aula de mestrado da Universitat de València.
