Finally, the article presents a brief analysis of the situation in the Gaza Strip, especially in relation to the attack on Al Shifa Hospital.El presente artículo tiene como objetivo introducir la regulación específica sobre la protección especial que el Derecho Internacional Humanitario brinda al personal sanitario y a las unidades sanitarias en el marco de los conflictos armados. De igual manera, se busca presentar el panorama actual con relación al cumplimiento de esta protección especial en distintas zonas de conflicto como Siria y Afganistán, así como el desarrollo jurisprudencial en el Tribunal Internacional para la Ex Yugoslavia y la Corte Penal Internacional.
