Moreover, throughout this article, the author emphasizes on the role and legal treatment granted to the Catholic church from Canon Law and the Peruvian legal framework.En un Estado constitucionalmente laico como el peruano, ¿cuál es la razón de ser de la exoneración tributaria a entidades religiosas?, ¿qué normas y principios fundamentan este régimen de compensación?, ¿debería mantenerse vigente?. El autor reflexiona sobre estas cuestiones desde su relación con el principio de igualdad y libertad religiosa, además de considerar el tratamiento fiscal de las entidades religiosas otorgado en el Perú desde una perspectiva histórica.
