Descripción
Sumario:Sexual abuse mainly affects children of both genders and women, with serious consequences for the victims and their familial and the social environment. This article traces available literature on the actions on the part of public health systems in some countries, aimed at supporting survivors of sexual abuse. It also examines the most recommended psychological treatments for repairing the mental health of victims. Sexual abuse in developing countries should be a public safety issue, more so in Colombia, where rape of women is a weapon of war used by players in sociopolitical violence.
