The distress that the earthquake caused in the poor population, as a result of hygienic deficiencies, led to outbreaks of social unrest. From the riots of the Indian potters in the Santa Ana neighborhood in 1747, to the plan forged three years later by Indians and other social actors involved in the conspiracy, collective fear was used as a control mechanism and an opportunity for insurrection.El artículo busca establecer conexiones entre el desastre natural de 1746 y la conspiración de Lima de 1750 como parte de la coyuntura a mediados del siglo XVIII, en la que los movimientos sociales de cierta envergadura atravesaron por un proceso de maduración. El desamparo que el terremoto ocasionó en la población pobre, como resultado de las deficiencias higiénicas, incidieron en brotes de intranquilidad social.
