Systematic review of research on the psychological sense of community in Latin America

In this study, we conducted a systematic review of research on the psychological sense of community in Latin America between 2000 and 2024. Specifically, we analyzed 30 articles that applied a psychometric approach to the study of the subjective experience of community belonging. The results showed that the sense of community maintains a positive relationship with community participation and psychological well-being, consistent with the international literature on the topic in different geographical contexts. The systematic review also revealed the need to improve psychometric assessment tools, as well as the need to delve deeper into the social genesis of subjective experiences of belonging. Future research should analyze the interaction between socioeconomic status and social practices in the development of the psychological sense of community.
