The literature review was carried out with articles collected in specialized and reliable databases. The review focuses on the most relevant research published in a 10-year period (2011-2020). The research among its results shows that there is a predominantly positive impact in the face of the increase in gender diversity in governments, boards of directors and managers. The impact has been measured in operational and financial terms from various theoretical perspectives. Among the theoretical approaches, agency theory, gender theory, and upper echelon theory, among others. This article compiles the recent empirical evidence that shows how significant is the inclusion of more women in the management bodies, boards of directors and corporate governments of companies can be, with scientific evidence.El artículo tiene por propósito presentar una revisión de literatura de estudios empíricos sobre la diversidad de género en el gobierno corporativo, directorio y gerencias de empresas. La revisión de literatura se realizó con artículos recopilados en bases de datos especializados y confiables. La revisión se focaliza en las investigaciones más relevantes publicados en un periodo de 10 años (2011-2020). Las investigaciones entre sus resultados demuestran que existe un impacto predominantemente positivo frente al incremento de la diversidad de género en los gobiernos corporativos, los directorios y gerencias. El impacto se ha medido en términos operativos y financieros desde diversas perspectivas teóricas. Entre los enfoques teóricos predominan la teoría de la agencia, la teoría de género y la teoría de los escalones superiores.
