In this context, the objective of this research is twofold: On one hand, assessing the degree of public economic and financial information that the central governments of the countries of Central America disseminate through their websites, and on the other, identifying environmental factors that may be associated with the level of public financial information disclosed through the Internet.Las Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación, y específicamente Internet, han permitido a los gobiernos mantener un canal de comunicación permanente con los ciudadanos, mediante el cual se persigue una mayor participación de éstos y una mejora en la transparencia y la rendición de cuentas, reduciendo así las posibilidades de corrupción. En este contexto, la presente investigación tiene un doble objetivo. De un lado, valorar el grado de información económica y financiera pública que los gobiernos centrales de los países de la región centroamericana difunden por medio de sus sitios Web.
