Results: Regarding the levels of self-esteem in students, with high 44% and 68% have a functional family. Conclusions: Between the variables of level of self-esteem and type of family of the students, it is recognized that there is a significant relationship (p=0.001<0.05).Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre el nivel de autoestima y el tipo de familia de alumnos de una universidad privada del centro del Perú. Metodología: Este estudio es básico, de nivel tipo correlacional, el diseño no experimental y de corte transversal. Aplicándose dos cuestionarios como instrumentos, se realizó en la muestra de 34 alumnos universitarios. Resultados: Respecto a los niveles de autoestima en los alumnos, con alta 44% y poseen familia de tipo funcional el 68%.
