The type of research is descriptive correlational, cross-sectional. The study is framed by teachers, administrative staff and students of the I cycle of the Professional School of Primary Education in the Faculty of Education of the National University Hermilio Valdizán in the city of Huánuco. As an instrument, the questionnaire questionnaire and the data collection sheet (academic records) were used. The validity of the instruments was made through expert judgment. Among the most important conclusions it can be pointed out that there is a direct and significant relationship between the contingency leadership of the principal and the academic performance of the students of the I cycle of the Professional School of Primary Education in the Faculty of Education of the National University Hermilio Valdizán in the city of Huánuco in 2017.Este artículo es el resumen de una investigación que tuvo como propósito establecer si existe relación entre el liderazgo por contingencia del director y el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes del I ciclo de la Escuela Profesional de Educación Primaria en la Facultad de Educación de la Universidad Nacional Hermilio Valdizán en la ciudad de Huánuco en el año 2017. El tipo de investigación es descriptiva correlacional, de corte transversal. El estudio se enmarca en docentes, personal administrativo y estudiantes del I ciclo de la Escuela Profesional de Educación Primaria en la Facultad de Educación de la Universidad Nacional Hermilio Valdizán en la ciudad de Huánuco. Como instrumento, se utilizaron un cuestionario de interrogantes y la hoja de recolección de datos (registros académicos). La validez de los instrumentos se realizó por medio del juicio de expertos.
