The article describes some aspects related to the evolution of the participation of indigenous women in the democratic and political life of Ecuador; To achieve this purpose, an analysis of indigenous women, democracy and citizen participation is carried out, taking as an approach the ancestral and mestizo worldview, to conclude by describing the role of the aboriginal warmi in the political parties and movements of Ecuador.Las mujeres en sentido general y las indígenas en particular han sido excluidas de varias actividades del ser humano, aduciendo teorías machistas y patriarcales que han discriminado y minimizado la capacidad de las féminas para ejecutar labores que a través de la historia han demostrado hacerlo mejor que los hombres, esta percepción ha marcado una diferencia significativa entre hombres y mujeres; la lucha de las féminas por el respeto de sus derechos, por la igualdad y equidad en el Ecuador, se origina precisamente en el sector rural, su vos de protesta y su constancia han sido un pilar fundamental en el alcance de derechos colectivos de los pueblos y nacionalidades indígenas.
