description In an increasingly globalized world, job insecurity has increased in Latin America, affecting levels of social well-being. As a result, many families are trapped in a cycle of poverty from which it is difficult to escape. In this context, education becomes a key tool for improving quality of life. The objective of this study is to analyze the influence of parents' precarious employment conditions on their children's academic performance, with a particular focus on schools in the outskirts of Mazatlán, Sinaloa. Methodology: The study was exploratory in-depth with a qualitative approach, using a case study method. Data collection techniques included semi-structured interviews. Results: Although parents value educational attainment and have expectations about their children's future employment, their perceptions are driven by their own precarious employment experiences. In conclusion, a relationship was identified between parents' precarious employment conditions and students' poor academic performance. These findings highlight the need for a multidisciplinary approach to addressing educational issues from a social perspective that considers the structural conditions that impact academic performance.

Como consecuencia, muchas familias quedan atrapadas en un ciclo de pobreza del cual es difícil salir. En este contexto, la educación se convierte en una herramienta clave para mejorar la calidad de vida. El objetivo de este estudio es analizar la influencia de las condiciones de precariedad laboral de los padres en el rendimiento escolar de sus hijos, con un enfoque particular en escuelas de la periferia de Mazatlán, Sinaloa. En cuanto a la metodología, el estudio fue de nivel de profundidad exploratorio con un enfoque cualitativo, se utilizó el método de estudio de casos. Las técnicas de recolección de datos incluyeron entrevistas semiestructuradas. Los resultados indican que, si bien los padres valoran la formación escolar y tienen expectativas sobre el futuro laboral de sus hijos, su percepción está motivada por sus propias experiencias laborales marcadas por la precariedad. En conclusión, se identificó una relación entre las condiciones laborales precarias de los padres y el bajo rendimiento escolar de los estudiantes. Metodologia, o estudo foi exploratório em profundidade com abordagem qualitativa, utilizou-se o método de estudo de caso. As técnicas de coleta de dados incluíram entrevistas semiestruturadas. Resultados: Embora os pais valorizem a educação escolar e tenham expectativas quanto ao futuro trabalho dos filhos, a sua percepção é motivada pelas próprias experiências de trabalho marcadas pela precariedade. Concluindo, identificou-se uma relação entre as precárias condições de trabalho dos pais e o baixo desempenho acadêmico dos alunos.
