description Investigative skills are essential for proper development at the higher level. The objective of the study was to build a scale aimed at measuring investigative skills, as well as to determine the level of said skills in university students in the city of Piura, Peru. The study was of a non-experimental, instrumental, simple descriptive design, the research had the participation of 1682 students. At the instrumental level, adequate indicators of content, construct and convergence validity were found, as well as adequate reliability and rating indices. At a descriptive level, a predominance of the low level (60.7%) was found, followed by a medium level (30.3%) and a high level (9.0%). In the 7 underlying domains, a predominance of the low level was found in more than 50% of the population. In conclusion, an ideal instrument was obtained for the optimal measurement of the construct. After its application, it was found that the level of investigative skills and their underlying components predominate at a low level.

El estudio tuvo como objetivo construir una escala orientada a medir las habilidades investigativas, así como determinar el nivel de dichas habilidades en los universitarios de la ciudad de Piura, Perú. El estudio fue de diseño no experimental, instrumental, descriptivo simple, la investigación contó con la participación de 1682 estudiantes. A nivel instrumental, se encontraron adecuados indicadores de validez de contenido, constructo y convergencia, así como adecuados índices de confiabilidad y baremación. A nivel descriptivo, se encontró predominancia del nivel bajo (60.7%), seguido de un nivel medio (30.3%) y un nivel alto (9.0%). En los 7 dominios subyacentes, se encontró predominancia del nivel bajo en más del 50% de la población. Como conclusión, se obtuvo un instrumento idóneo para la medición óptima del constructo. Tras su aplicación, se encontró que el nivel de las habilidades investigativas y sus componentes subyacentes, predominan en un nivel bajo.Habilidades investigativas são essenciais para o desenvolvimento adequado no nível superior. O objetivo do estudo foi construir uma escala destinada a medir as habilidades investigativas, bem como determinar o nível dessas habilidades em estudantes universitários da cidade de Piura, Peru. O estudo foi do tipo não experimental, instrumental, descritivo simples, a pesquisa contou com a participação de 1682 alunos. No nível instrumental, foram encontrados indicadores adequados de validade de conteúdo, construto e convergência, bem como índices adequados de confiabilidade e classificação. A nível descritivo verificou-se predominância do nível baixo (60,7%), seguido do nível médio (30,3%) e do nível alto (9,0%). Nos 7 domínios subjacentes, foi encontrada predominância do nível baixo em mais de 50% da população. Em conclusão, obteve-se um instrumento ideal para a mensuração ótima do construto.
