Materials and methods: One hundred (100) type 2 diabetic patients were chosen from the public primary health care system, and evaluated by a primary physician in a private diabetic foot unit. The NT was represented by the tactile-vibratory sensitivity and the AT by the ankle-brachial index according to the IWGDF guidelines. They were compared to standard neurological and arterial tests called Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument and Duplex Doppler Ultrasound, respectively, and performed by a diabetic foot specialist. Results: The NT showed an Se and Sp of 100 % and 94 % for the DPN, and the AT showed an S and E of 67.3 % and 83.2 % for the PAD, as well as a high PPV. The PLR was good in the NT, but poor in the AT. Conclusions: Accuracy and reliability of the NT and AT according to the IWGDF guidelines were adequate to diagnose DPN and PAD, respectively, in type 2 diabetic patients attending the primary health care, whose values were very similar to other studies’ but affected by local factors. |

Materiales y métodos: Se escogieron 100 diabéticos tipo 2, captados del sistema primario público de la salud, y evaluados por un médico de familia en una unidad de pie diabético privada para una PN representada por la sensibilidad táctil-vibratoria y PA representada por el índice tobillo-brazo según IWGDF, comparándolas con la prueba estándar neurológica y arterial llamada Instrumento de neuropatía periférica de Michigan y ecografía doppler dúplex respectivamente, realizada por un médico especialista en pie diabético . Resultados: la PN presentó S y E de 100 % y 94 % para NPD y la PA presentó S y E de 67,3 % y 83,2 % para EAP, VPP altas y, RVP buena para la PN, pero pobre para PA. Conclusiones: La PN y PA según IWGDF fue buena en exactitud y seguridad para diagnosticar la NPD y EAP respectivamente en los diabéticos tipo 2 en un contexto de atención primaria de la salud y sus valores fueron muy similares a otros estudios pero que fueron influidos por factores locales.Universidad de San Martín de Porres.
