The sample consisting of 1,144 adults over 18 years of age from the district of Villa El Salvador was collected from July 2020 to July 2021. It was found that 777 (67.9 %) women and 467 (32.1 %) men attended an appointment. Therefore, it is concluded that women visit the general practitioner's office more frequently than men. It is necessary to assess what factors affect this difference and whether there is any epidemiological and public health impact.Existe la percepción de que las mujeres acuden a la consulta de medicina general con mayor frecuencia que los hombres. El objetivo de este estudio es determinar las diferencias respecto a la frecuencia de consultas de hombres y mujeres a los servicios de medicina general en centros médicos privados. La muestra de 1144 adultos mayores de 18 años del distrito de Villa El Salvador se recolectó durante el periodo comprendido entre julio del 2020 a julio del 2021. Se observó que 777 mujeres (67,90 %) y 467 hombres (32,10 %) acudieron a la consulta; por consiguiente, se llegó a la conclusión de que las mujeres asisten a la consulta en medicina general con mayor frecuencia que los hombres. Es necesario evaluar cuáles son los factores que influyen en esta diferencia y si existe algún impacto epidemiológico y en la salud pública.Universidad de San Martín de Porres.
