The information based on local studies indicates that many road accidents in Peru are caused by drivers falling asleep or because of driving so tired. We discuss in this paper the original data published in Peru and we propose some guidelines in order to address this problem.Un conductor cansado o que se duerme durante su actividad no puede realizar maniobras evasivas para evitar colisiones o despistes, siendo el resultado de este tipo de accidentes, gran número de víctimas y la destrucción de infraestructura. La información obtenida a partir de estudios nacionales indica que los accidentes de carreteras causados por somnolencia y/o cansancio del conductor existen en nuestro país.
