El presente estudio cualitativo examina las representaciones sobre el espectro del trastorno autista de ocho padres de hijos diagnosticados con autismo, pertenecientes a una escuela de educación especial de Lima. Profundizando en la representación del autismo y su etiología, la representación de las dificultades del autismo, la representación del hijo autista, y la representación del futuro del hijo autista. Nuestra investigación sugiere que existiría una forma predominante de representar el autismo como un mal funcionamiento que genera solipsismo, dificultades y retos, y predominaría una atribución interna de la etiología. Las dificultades del autismo percibidas por los padres, se representarían como retos y demanda de tiempo. El hijo autista sería representado como un ser amado pero con una condición anormal que se rechaza, entrelazándose sentimientos de amor y orgullo con frustración, culpa, miedo y otras emociones negativas. Los padres pasarían por un proceso de adaptación de las expectativas iniciales de un hijo ideal, a las nuevas condiciones de un hijo con autismo. Los padres se representarían el futuro de sus hijos autista de forma incierta, entrelazándose un optimismo moderado con temor y ansiedad, en particular el momento en que no puedan hacerse cargo de sus hijos autistas. |

Elaborating on the representation of autism and its etiology, the representation of the difficulties of autism, the representation of the autistic child, and the representation of the future of the autistic child. Our research suggests that there would be a predominant form of representing autism as a malfunction that generates solipsism, difficulties and challenges, and would predominate an internal attribution of the etiology. The difficulties of autism perceived by the parents, would be represented as challenges and time demands. The autistic child would be represented as a loved one but with an abnormal condition that is rejected, intertwining feelings of love and pride with frustration, guilt, fear, and other negatives emotions. Parents would go through an adaptation process from the initial expectations of an ideal child to the new conditions of a child with autism.
