Se encontraron correlaciones entre las reacciones de estrés global, fisiológicas, cognitivas, emocionales y las estrategias de afrontamiento esforzarse y tener éxito, no afrontamiento, autoinculparse y distracción física. De igual manera, se observaron diferencias significativas según el sexo en las reacciones de estrés global, fisiológico, emocional, cognitivo y en la estrategia de afrontamiento de autoinculparse donde las mujeres puntuaron más alto. Por el contrario, los hombres hacen mayor uso de las estrategias de distracción física e ignorar el problema a diferencia de las mujeres.

A group of 35 currently institutionalized adolescents aged between 12 and 17 years old (M = 14.14 years, SD = 1.46) were assessed using the Adolescent Coping Scale – Lima (ACS Lima) and the Stress Reactions Inventory (IREA). Significant correlations between physiological, cognitive, emotional and global stress reactions with coping strategies such as not coping, self-blame, physical distraction and work hard and achieve were found. Also, significant differences by gender in physiological, cognitive and emotional stress reactions, overall stress and coping strategy self-blame, were higher in women than men.
