description Esta tesis analiza la influencia de la memoria en el desarrollo de los movimientos sociales, particularmente en el conflicto de Conga, en Cajamarca, Perú. A través de un enfoque cualitativo y un marco teórico basado en las teorías de la memoria y los movimientos sociales, la investigación revela que la memoria colectiva de los cajamarquinos ha sido un catalizador de su acción política, fortaleciendo la identidad y la cohesión comunitaria. Esa memoria se había forjado durante muchos años de relaciones complejas y conflictivas entre la comunidad local y las compañías mineras extractivas. Los principales hallazgos de esta investigación muestran que los recuerdos de explotación, pobreza y destrucción de recursos naturales han alimentado un discurso antiminería, el cual ha sostenido y ampliado la lucha contra Conga en los tiempos actuales. Esta tesis contribuye a la comprensión de la influencia de las prácticas de memoria en los movimientos sociales, ofreciendo conceptos y nociones para entender la situación de comunidades en situaciones similares.

Utilizing a qualitative approach and a theoretical framework based on theories of memory and social movements, the research reveals that the collective memory of the cajamarquinos, forged through years of pollution and resistance, has not only been a catalyst for collective action but has also strengthened community identity and cohesion in the face of large-scale mining. The main findings demonstrate that memories of exploitation, poverty, natural resources, and losses from the conflict have fueled an anti-mining discourse, which has sustained and amplified the contemporary struggle.
