La primera parte evalúa el Pre-Cambriano y el Paleozoico en el Bloque B de la Cordillera Oriental , teniendo en consideración que se han incorporado datos de la parte de la Cordillera Oriental que prolonga dicho Bloque al Sur de 12° S a 13° S, siendo el Río Apurímac el límite más oriental del área de estudio. Se examina el substrato preordoviciano y probablemente precambriano de la Cordillera Oriental, a nivel del Perú Central, estableciendo sus relaciones con la cubierta Paleozoica. La segunda parte analiza el denominado “ciclo andino”, es decir el conjunto de acontecimientos que se suceden en la extensión actual del sistema montañoso andino, y en sus inmediaciones, desde el principio del Mesozoico hasta la actualidad. Se anota que tiene su inicio en el largo periodo de sedimentación, que se prolonga hasta fines del Cretáceo, sucediendo un período marcado por varias fases tectónicas de comprensión, debido al emplazamiento de importantes masas de rocas plutónicas y por la elaboración de varias superficies de erosión. Finalmente, se plantea un esquema evolutivo para los Andes Centrales del Carbonífero al actual, dentro del marco de la tectónica de placas.
