Resúmenes extendidosp. 35-36.En mayo del 2006 se inició el Plan Piloto de Educación y Sensibilización Sobre Peligros Volcánicos en el Distrito de Alto Selva Alegre, cuyo objetivo es crear una mayor conciencia de los pobladores y autoridades sobre la necesidad de implementar planes de prevención y mitigación frente a este tipo de peligro natural. El Plan piloto se desa1Tollará en los barrios de Bella Esperanza y Javier Heraud, lugares escogidos debido a su alta vulnerabilidad. En este esfuerzo participan el INGEMMET, PREDES, la UNSA, INDECI-Arequipa, la Municipalidad Distrital de Alto Selva Alegre y el Proyecto Multinacional Andino con financiamiento del Servicio Geológico de Canadá.
