(1972), Ponzoni, P. (1980) y Canchaya & Aranda (2001). En el año 2001, dentro del marco del Proyecto Multinacional Andino, se preparó un mapa metalogénico a escala 1:1 000 000, de la región fronteriza entre Argentina, Bolivia, Chile y Perú (Zappettini et al., 2001). Más adelante, Cardozo (2002) presentó un mapa con franjas mineralizadas basado en tipos de yacimientos. En los años 2007 y 2008, Quispe et al. preparó un nuevo mapa metalogenético que presentaba 23 franjas metalogenéticas definidas en base a dominios geotectónicos y sistemas de fallas regionales, así como una clasificación de depósitos de minerales por operaciones y proyectos mineros. Desde entonces, se ha venido actualizando este mapa con nueva información, y actualmente el mapa metalogenético 2009 cuenta con una versión digital, que incluye información del tamaño de depósito en base al tonelaje de contenido fino metálico.
