Publicación Especial, n° 9, 2010.Páginas 440-444.En el Noroeste del Perú, las formaciones paleógenas y miocénicas, debido a su potencial minero y petrolero, han sido mejor estudiadas que la serie plio-pleistocénica que aflora en los acantilados de los ríos Chira y Piura. Mediante el análisis de la facies sedimentaria, se propone evidenciar los ambientes sedimentarios que se desarrollaron durante el Plio-Pleistoceno en los valles de los ríos Chira y Piura.
