Resúmenes.5 páginasLa cuenca Ene forma parte de las cuencas subandinas del Perú y viene siendo explorada y estudiada desde los años sesenta (IPC, 1962; EUROCAN, 1991, ELF, 1996; INGEMMET, 1997, 1998); sin embargo, el esfuerzo exploratorio no ha sido muy intenso, comparado con las cuencas adyacentes. Prueba de ello, es que no se ha perforado ningún pozo exploratorio basta la fecha, quedando la parte meridional prácticamente sin información. Como unidad morfoestructural, se encuentra en la parte central de la faja subandina y se extiende sobre un área aproximada de 10,000 km2. Por el norte limita con la cuenca Pachitea y por el sur se adelgaza próximo al poblado Pichari en el rio Apurímac. Por el oeste limita con la Cordillera Oriental y por el este con las montañas del Shira. La escasa información geológica y sísmica existente en el sector meridional, requiere de investigaciones de geología superficial con nuevas interpretaciones estructurales y estratigráficas.
