Echinococcus granulosus was not found in foxes but Taenia hydatigena and T. multiceps were found in 7 and 4 animals respectively. The grey fox may not be a suitable definitive host for E. granulosus. However, it may act as a sylvatic reservoir of T. hydatigena and T. multiceps in the central Peruvian Andes.Consejo Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación Tecnológica - ConcytecengNational Library of MedicineJournal of Helminthologyinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesstaeniasisanimal tissue-1article-1echinococcosis-1echinococcus granulosus-1female-1fox-1intestine parasite-1male-1nonhuman-1peru-1taenia-1taenia hydatigena-1Animals-1Disease Reservoirs-1Echinococcus-1Female-1Foxes-1https://purl.org/pe-repo/ocde/ford#4.02.00-1Intestinal parasites of the grey fox (Pseudalopex culpaeus) in the central Peruvian Andesinfo:eu-repo/semantics/articlereponame:CONCYTEC-Institucionalinstname:Consejo Nacional de Ciencia Tecnología e Innovacióninstacron:CONCYTEC#PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE#20.500.12390/777oai:repositorio.concytec.gob.pe:20.500.12390/7772024-05-30 15:51:28.856http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cbinfo:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessmetadata only accesshttps://repositorio.concytec.gob.peRepositorio Institucional CONCYTECrepositorio@concytec.gob.pe#PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE#<Publication xmlns="https://www.openaire.eu/cerif-profile/1.1/" id="7fe599d5-3eac-4b36-96b7-d606304feee1"> <Type xmlns="https://www.openaire.eu/cerif-profile/vocab/COAR_Publication_Types">http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_1843</Type> <Language>eng</Language> <Title>Intestinal parasites of the grey fox (Pseudalopex culpaeus) in the central Peruvian Andes</Title> <PublishedIn> <Publication> <Title>Journal of Helminthology</Title> </Publication> </PublishedIn> <PublicationDate>1998</PublicationDate> <DOI>https://doi.org/10.1017/s0022149x00001048</DOI> <SCP-Number>2-s2.0-0031887906</SCP-Number> <Authors> <Author> <DisplayName>Moro P.L.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp01925" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Ballarta J.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp02000" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Gilman R.H.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp00604" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Leguia G.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp01999" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Rojas M.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp01185" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Montes G.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp01970" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> </Authors> <Editors> </Editors> <Publishers> <Publisher> <DisplayName>National Library of Medicine</DisplayName> <OrgUnit /> </Publisher> </Publishers> <Keyword>taeniasis</Keyword> <Keyword>animal tissue</Keyword> <Keyword>article</Keyword> <Keyword>echinococcosis</Keyword> <Keyword>echinococcus granulosus</Keyword> <Keyword>female</Keyword> <Keyword>fox</Keyword> <Keyword>intestine parasite</Keyword> <Keyword>male</Keyword> <Keyword>nonhuman</Keyword> <Keyword>peru</Keyword> <Keyword>taenia</Keyword> <Keyword>taenia hydatigena</Keyword> <Keyword>Animals</Keyword> <Keyword>Disease Reservoirs</Keyword> <Keyword>Echinococcus</Keyword> <Keyword>Female</Keyword> <Keyword>Foxes</Keyword>
The intestines of 20 grey Peruvian foxes (Pseudalopex culpaeus) were examined for the presence of Echinococcus granulosus and other intestinal parasites.
