Community-based Rural Tourism (TRC) is a relatively recent experience which is developing in thecountryside, in a planned and sustainable way based on the participation of local populations organized for thebenefit of a community. Peru, as a megadiverse country, has the appropriate conditions to lead this touristic modelon a global scale, as a new form of travel, giving visitors a unique and existential experience that enhances the image of Peru as a real, competitive and high quality country. This research study presents the results obtained by the Integrated Action of the Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID),Interuniversity Cooperation and Scientific Research Program entitled: Peru Tourist Observatory: Community-based Rural Tourism. From this standpoint, the article will offer a range of analyses of the touristic activities involving the priority community targets. The criteria followed will include geographical representation, accessibility, type of managing organization, ecological diversity, cultural diversity, origin ofthe initiative, and level of development.
El turismo rural comunitario (TRC) es un fenómeno relativamente reciente que se desarrolla en el medio rural, de manera planificada y sostenible, basado en la participación de las poblaciones locales organizadas para beneficio de una comunidad. Perú, en su calidad de país megadiverso, reúne condiciones apropiadas para liderar este modelo turístico a escala mundial, como una nueva forma de viajar, dotando al visitante de una experiencia única y vivencial que potencie la imagen del país como auténtico, competitivo y de calidad. La presente investigación ofrece los resultados obtenidos mediante la Acción Integrada del Programa de Cooperación Interuniversitaria e Investigación Científica de la Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID) titulado: Observatorio Turístico del Perú, Turismo Rural Comunitario (en adelante Programa OTP-TRC) partir de esta referencia se presentarán diversos análisis de las actividades turísticas relacionadas con los destinos comunitarios prioritarios, siguiendo criterios de representatividad geográfica, accesibilidad, tipo de organización, diversidad ecológica, diversidad cultural, origen de la iniciativa y nivel de desarrollo.
