Infections in gynecology and obstetrics: The Peruvian Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology scientific production during its seventy years of institutional life

Infections in gynecology and obstetrics are pathologies that affect women throughout their life; some of them represent public health problems. The Peruvian Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in its seventieth anniversary, since its foundation until today maintains a constant concern on this subject. Through the years it has promoted and published various investigations and reports by members of the Society and from the institutions where they labor. These are exposed in this article with special emphasis on historical, pioneering and relevant papers, and published in The Peruvian Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics, the official scientific publication of the Society.
Las infecciones en ginecología y obstetricia son patologías que afectan a la mujer en todas las etapas y condiciones de la vida, constituyendo algunas de ellas problemas de salud pública. La Sociedad Peruana de Obstetricia y Ginecología desde su fundación hasta la actualidad, en su septuagésimo aniversario, mantiene la preocupación constante sobre las infecciones en la mujer. Para ello ha promovido y publicado a través de los años diversas investigaciones y reportes sobre el tema, a cargo de los miembros de la Sociedad e instituciones donde laboran, los mismos que son expuestos en el presente artículo con especial énfasis en las investigaciones históricas, pioneras, o las que por su relevancia mantienen vigencia y que fueron publicadas en la Revista Peruana de Ginecología y Obstetricia, órgano oficial de publicación científica de la Sociedad.
