The participants were 25 male adolescents from 15 to 18 years old that aresheltered in a NGO in the metropolitan region of Curitiba, Paraná. The results informed that most of these adolescents have amiddle level of self-esteem, a positive self-concept and also apositive self-efficacy. The study of particular cases emphasizesthe prominent role of these beliefs in coping with adversity andin eventual resilience processes.El objetivo de este trabajo es investigar la interacción que existe entre el conjunto de creencias autorreferenciadas y las estrategias utilizadas para lidiar y, eventualmente, superar la adversidad en adolescentes que viven en situación de vulnerabilidad social. Para ello se utilizó cuatro instrumentos: la Escala Rosemberg de Autoestima (1965), la Escala Piers-Harris de Autoconcepto (1984), la Escala Bandura de Autoeficacia para Niños y Adolescentes 1990)y una entrevista preparada específicamente para estainvestigación. Participaron 25 adolescentes, de sexo masculino, de 15 a 18 años de edad, que viven albergados en una ONG en la ciudad de Curitiba, Paraná. Los resultados indican una autoestima de nivel medio, un autoconcepto y una autoeficacia positiva en la mayoría de estos adolescentes.
