A pesar de que la democracia cada vez más se extiende en el mundo, en el sentido que cada vez más países del hemisferio optan por esta forma de Estado y de gobierno; sin embargo, también es cierto que cada vez tiene más críticos, aunque ello es algo que le acompaña desde sus orígenes; es decir, desde la antigua Grecia. Pareciera que la democracia es un sistema cerrado de ideas y que como modelo ha llegado a su tope. Hoy es común escuchar y hablar sobre la crisis de la democracia. Por lo mismo, es oportuno preguntarnos si la democracia desde sus orígenes es una idea unívoca, o en realidad es una idea que con el tiempo se ha desarrollado. Además, también habría que preguntarse si existe una idea única de democracia, o es que la democracia encierra una idea fuerza que establece un contenido básico, que le da identidad y le permite diferenciarse de las otras ideas que propugn...

This research seeks to show the ways of male social performance by students in educational environments in which they are more likely to question the traditional model of masculinity (TMM) that characterizes the man as a different and superior being than the woman. As a way to approach to that phenomena, we have decided to study a private, secular, mixed and «alternative» school (characterized by promoting democratic values), because previous research showed evidence that these schools actively challenge gender stereotypes. We found that the male performance of the students reproduces, at the very least partially, the TMM model. The measures used by the school to promote gender equality were useful to promote practices that took distance from some TMM issues (suchas emotional expressiveness) but are not sufficient to ensure that other aspects of TMM will not be reproduced (such as the ...
