The transition of the Peruvian political system to decentralization has uncovered a number of factors that condition national development although by bringing the State closer to the people, the contrary should be expected. These elements underlie the existing culture of government and the ordinary citizen’s so that despite specifi c opportunities to foster development, they are not revealed in human development indicators but only on economic indicators. One of these elements is the natural reaction to changes in the power structure existing inside the centralist system that have been revealed by the slow transfer of competencies from the central to the sub-national governments. Another such element is the limited ability of sub-national governments that fail to respond to the challenge of demonstrating better competencies to address the citizens’ demands.

Determina la correlación entre los exámenes estructurales y los funcionales en pacientes con glaucoma avanzado. Método: Estudio cuantitativo, observacional, transversal en 169 pacientes con glaucoma, divididos en dos grupos: moderado y avanzado. Se midió la relación entre un examen estructural (tomógrafo de coherencia óptica Spectralis: OCT) con un funcional (campo visual Octopus: CV) en ambos grupos, usando el coeficiente de correlación de Pearson. Resultados: La desviación media en el CV fue de 8,68 ± 1,54 decibeles en glaucoma moderado, y de 17,57 ± 4,55 decibeles en avanzado; la media de la pérdida de la capa de fibras nerviosas (CFN) en el OCT fue de 94,69 ± 20,10 micras y de 69,08 ± 21,62 micras en glaucoma moderado y avanzado respectivamente. Existe correlación r = -0,493 (p < 0,05) entre OCT y CV en glaucoma moderado; pero en glaucoma avanzado no existe correlació...

La presión intraocular (PIO) es la presión tisular más alta del organismo, semejante a la del líquido cefalorraquídeo. La PIO representa un factor fundamental de salud y enfermedad ocular. El presente estudio busca evaluar la influencia de la curvatura corneal central (CCC) en el resultado de la lectura tonométrica en pacientes sometidos a cirugía electiva de extracción extracapsular de catarata (EECC). En un estudio clínico prospectivo analítico se examinaron 19 pacientes programados electivamente a cirugía de EECC. El resultado de las mediciones de la CCC fue realizado por promedio de la queratometría y el grosor corneal central (GCC) por un paquimetría. El análisis estadístico fue realizado utilizando el programa informático Prism, con el análisis de varianza (ANOVA), T-student y correlación de datos.
