Due to the damage and compromise of the knee, it was decided to perform the arthrodesis technique with a compression plate fusing the femur and tibia. For the arthrodesis technique, a 2.7 mm compression plate with three 18 mm and one 14 mm screws placed in the proximal part and four 18 mm screws in the distal part were used. The synthesis of the internal surgical plane was performed with vicryl 1.0 and the external one with nylon. The anaesthetic procedure was routine, analgesic and antimicrobial therapy was performed with tramadol, doxycycline and metronidazole. A follow-up was performed 60 days after the intervention in which the patient showed no negative reactions. Limb mobility was successfully reduced.Se describe el caso clínico de un paciente canino macho castrado, de 8 años y 10 kg de peso, quien fue remitido a consulta a la Clínica de Pequeños Animales de la Universidad de la Amazonia (Florencia, Colombia), luego de sufrir un trauma vehicular. En la exploración clínica se evidenció claudicación tipo IV del miembro pélvico derecho. El estudio radiográfico inicial dejó en evidencia lesiones que fueron sugestivas para fractura de epífisis distal de fémur y región intercondílea. Debido al daño y compromiso de la rodilla, se decidió realizar la técnica de artrodesis con placa de compresión fusionando fémur y tibia. Para la técnica de artrodesis, se empleó una placa de compresión de 2.7 mm con 3 tornillos de 18 mm y uno de 14 mm colocados en la parte proximal y 4 tornillos de 18 mm en la parte distal. La síntesis del plano quirúrgico interno se realizó con vicryl 1.0 y el externo con nylon. El procedimiento anestésico fue de rutina, la terapia analgésica y antimicrobiana se realizó con tramadol, doxiciclina y metronidazol. Se realizó un seguimiento de 60 días ulterior a la intervención en el cual el paciente no mostró reacciones negativas.
