Chirikyacu, Chunchiwi, and Chirik Sacha, located in the San Martin region (Peru), are indigenous communities affiliated with the National Program of Forest Conservation for Climate Change Mitigation. The three communities approved the implementation of the Conditional Direct Transfer Mechanism (TDC, acronym in Spanish) as a financial tool for primary forest conservation. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar el proceso de biodegradación en un sistema prototipo a nivel laboratorio utilizando residuos textiles de algodón como potencial sustrato de biodigestión. Los desechos provienen de una industria textil de la Región Arequipa. Se determinó el volumen de biogás y metano producido mediante la medición de diferencia de masas y perdida de volumen de cada biorreactor, ensayo conocido como potencial bioquímico de metano (PBM), también se calculó el porcentaje de biodegradación mediante el contenido de carbono gaseoso de la muestra textil como se establece en la ASTM D-5511-18.
