La enfermedad renal crónica (ERC) es el deterioro progresivo e irreversible de la función renal debida a diversas patologías degenerativas, infecciosas, tóxicas, metabólicas, etc. Se define como la disminución de la función renal, expresada por una tasa de filtración glomerular (TFG) < 60 mL/min/1.73m2SC o como la presencia de daño renal durante más de 3 meses.
