This article presents a reflection on the progress in the recognition of children as political subjects. To this end, it introduces the right to participation present in the Convention on the Rights of the Child and its scope, as well as the scarcity of spaces for participation and the limitations they present. Based on an investigation of the Children's Councils in the municipalities of Lima and Miraflores in Peru, characteristics are presented on the citizen awareness of the councilors based on the analysis of three components: awareness of rights, awareness of responsibility and sense of belonging to a community. La presente investigación busca describir y analizar las potencialidades y limitaciones como espacio de participación política del programa “El Consejo de las Niñas y los Niños” implementado en la Municipalidades de Lima Metropolitana y de Miraflores. Para ello, se describe el desarrollo del programa y se analiza su relación con la conciencia ciudadana de las niñas y niños consejeros. En el presente proyecto de investigación se propone realizar un acercamiento a los Centros de Educación Alternativa dirigidos a jóvenes y adultos que generalmente se encuentran en una situación de vulnerabilidad. En este sentido, se busca establecer las formas en que estos centros están orientados a la inclusión de estos jóvenes y adultos, encontrando las principales diferencias y semejanzas entre los CEBA privados y CEBA públicos.
